Recording at christchurch

Many faces have been seen here over the last twenty years. Massive Attack, Butch Vig, Andy Sheppard, The Insects, Van Morrison, PJ Harvey, Goldfrapp, Elizabeth Fraser and endless others have used Christchurch to make world class music. Countless soundtracks for the BBC, Channel 4 and numerous independent films have been recorded here.

As well as the live room, we have multiple breakout areas and strange spaces. We have a dead room; a cellar; a bowling alley; and if you want to, even the kitchen is wired up for recording. The patching in the building was designed by SSL and offers a remarkable amount of flexibility. The only limit is the imagination of whoever is at the controls.

We pride ourselves on having only the best quality equipment. No battered SM58s in sight here! We only use premium quality microphones from the likes of Neumann, Coles, AKG and Beyerdynamic. Our large format DDA recording console offers huge flexibility when tracking and mixing; and gear from Avalon, Universal Audio, Focusrite and endless other manufacturers guarantee that every nuance of your performance will be captured.

Whether you’re a solo artist or band looking to start your recording journey or seasoned veterans of the studio world, our top class engineers have everything covered. They’ve worked on everything from radio plays to punk to drum and bass to classical recordings. Poetry; rap; string quartets - we can handle anything you throw at us.
